![]() ![]() My family and I look forward to cheering you on in the audience at next year’s Spectacular. I encourage you to get involved in what is the absolute highlight of the Victorian school year - and let your talent shine. Plans for the 2022 Spectacular performing arts program are already underway. The Yearbook captures images and videos of all the student cast and crew over the past months of preparation and is freely available online. This electronic souvenir Spectacular Yearbook recognises your hard work, perseverance, and triumphs. I also want to thank your teachers, your parents, the industry professionals, and everyone who has supported and encouraged you over the past year. You have every reason to be very proud of your achievements and I congratulate every one of you. You’ve shown outstanding resilience and versatility throughout challenging circumstances. Whether you’re a musician, dancer, singer, comedian, circus performer, skater, audio, video, or lighting crew member - you’ve all gained invaluable experience. ![]() You’ve all put so much work into rehearsals and perfecting your craft - in person - when you could - and online. Yet, despite everything, you have learned so much about preparing for a major performance. I know it was another disappointment on top of so many you’ve experienced over the past couple of years. I was so sorry that this year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular could not go ahead. I acknowledge their Elders past and present, and their emerging leaders. I am on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. Live louder.Īuthorised by the Victorian Government, Melbourneįirstly, I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which you are all individually gathered. You can’t stop them from being who they are. You can’t really silence these kids, and you can’t get rid of this show, and their voice, and their creativity is going to find a way through, and it will come through, even a pandemic. It’s like finding a voice, you know, trying to live and be prosperous through the way you want to be, whether it be through the arts, or having a voice for yourself and through entertainment.įinally, we can live the loudest that we can, and we haven’t been able to do that for a very long time. The theme of this year’s show is Live Louder and for me that just means personally just getting back to a normal way of living, starting to connect more with people.Įvery kid, every young performer needs that opportunity to express themselves and be really happy about who they are, and turning up the volume, not only just with your voice but with your whole heart and soul is I think what Live Louder is about. Obviously, being a performer, rehearsing in studios you need to be able to connect with people because when you’re in a room full of people and you’re rehearsing and performing and everything, you need the energy that’s there, because the energy, you get so much more hyped up, it just makes rehearsals so much more fun, and it makes you feel like a family. ![]() This is our intensive week so this is the first time we’re dancing with Principal Dancers and the first time I’ve actually seen the orchestra rehearse in a very long time. There’s definitely a different energy about it all, and I think you know, we’re a little bit more grateful for what we have you know, we realised what we didn’t have for a long time. We’re all together and so fun and we can work off each other’s energy and it’s really good. It’s been amazing to be with people, performing with people around you, it’s so much better. It’s really definitely an amazing feeling to be back in the studio with all of my friends singing and dancing. ![]() Hearing the kids come together and creating something special and being able to respond in live time is just absolutely the best thing ever. We’re all back in the building, the energy’s there, the excitement, everyone’s so happy to be around, singing, dancing and acting again. It is so great to be back face to face, doing Spectacular again. ![]()
