The trick is to leave those at the door and evaluate the process by the reality of what you see and what it does for you. Like anything else, the perception of preconceived notions and expectations that you bring to Peloton will greatly color your experience. After all, how I stack up against PelotonDudeFromLA isn’t nearly as important as how I stack up against myself from three months ago. While it’s a huge motivating factor for some riders, it can also be safely ignored in favor of competing with yourself. They almost always stress that their cadence and resistance numbers are guidelines, but you need to listen to your body first and foremost. On the contrary, they almost always emphasize that you should be working out to the level that your body is capable of at this point in your journey. I can’t speak to the other instructors she references, but in my experience with Peloton, I’ve never heard an instructor even mention body weight, much less make it a goal or point of judgement. Yeah, it honestly sounds like she’s bringing her own baggage to her attempts as fitness and blaming her instructors for having to carry it. ![]() She never insinuated that all mothers should return to form just like her. She emphasized in her IG posts there she trained her body to bounce back because it was part of her job & every new mothers is going to go through their own journey. I’ve never felt that I was defeated but more yes, I can do better. I’ve seen such progress for myself in both fitness & gaining strength/getting stronger. Peloton was really something I become to enjoy, keeps me motivated, & makes me love working out cos I have this community there at whatever time of day to workout with & the coaches working out with me. I started in March 2021 after getting bored of zoom yoga & needed something else. Just keep going at it & we’ll be surprised by our progress. ![]() Even if we sucked today, they said we can do better next time or if we did well before doesn’t mean we won’t suck today. The messaging has always been that progress not perfection. I’ve never found Robin or any of the Peloton coaches talking about weight loss but more of a journey to health, fitness, & progress. That’s been my impression throughout the years. I always found Jezebel quick to label any type of fitness/wellness/working out as being fatphobic/fat shaming. ![]()
